L&G introduces IP flexibility for NHS doctors and nurses

Payment stages can be adapted to reflect sick pay structure

Legal & General has updated its income protection (IP) policy to provide greater flexibility for NHS doctors, nurses and surgeons.

It has also introduced more competitive pricing across all occupation classes, including customers in light and heavy manual labour jobs. 

NHS doctors, nurses and surgeons have a different sick pay structure within the first five years of service, which traditional IP products often do not cater for.

L&G’s updated policy enables payment stages to be adapted to ensure key workers receive their monthly benefit when they need it.

The new IP offering will be available to Legal & General customers, via intermediaries, from July 2018. 

Craig Brown (pictured), director, Legal & General Intermediary, said following feedback from intermediaries for greater pricing and support for NHS workers, the insurer has added these benefits to its current IP offering.
