AXA PPP healthcare has launched three new health insurance plans (Realise Heart Health Plan, Realise Plus Health Plan and Realise Premium Health Plan) under the Realise name. The low cost plans are designed to help employees better understand and manage their health risks by combining biometric and online health profile assessments with telephone coaching.
The assessments, provided by LiveSmart, include a blood test (covering 6, 34 and 39 areas depending on the plan) to check major body organ function and the online health profile is used to assess nutrition, physical activity, weight, sleep, smoking, drinking, stress, mood and medical history. LiveSmart GPs and health coaches then work up the findings into personalised reports, which highlight employees’ health risks and opportunities for improvement.
Employees can review their personalised health report through their online dashboard. Health coaching begins with a 50 minute telephone session to review all results and to create an action plan to lower their health risks.
In effect, there is a six point process: assess; analyse; review; talk it through; support, and improve.
Members also get:
* A digital Doctor@Hand GP appointment, delivered by Doctor Care Anywhere.
* 50% off PureGym annual membership.
* A £10 voucher for selected products that relate to their Realise results. For example, vitamin supplements from AXA’s ActivePlus retail service.
Home blood sample collection kits are provided at no additional cost and blood collection visits are available at extra cost and take less than ten minutes per employee.
The recommended retail prices of the three plans are £159, £199 and £299, with discounts for volumes (50+ members). Commission is 10% but only payable on more than 50 lives and that can be sacrificed to the benefit of the client if required.
What They Say
Distribution director Chris Horlick said: “Workplace wellbeing is too important to leave to chance. Despite advances in health tech and treatment, lifestyle related illnesses continue to take their toll on performance and productivity. That’s why we’ve introduced Realise Health Plans. We’re confident healthcare intermediaries will welcome the opportunity to show their corporate clients how they can pre-empt and even prevent ill health.”
What We Say"Most employers have woken up to the value of having a fit and healthy workforce, but achieving those aims is far from easy. If however employees can be encouraged to engage in a process that enables them to first better understand their health risks then nudges them to do something positive about it, that might just help.
"Health screening is not new, but what AXA PPP has done is to combine a simple blood test (and the more you pay the more is tested) and assessment with GP access and health coaches.
"Is it worth it? The plans are relatively inexpensive and the other benefits may encourage take-up too and it only requires a few employees suffering fewer health problems for the plan to easily pay for itself. For schemes of 50+ members, the employer also gets anonymised health data, enabling them to better track progress and to understand their employees’ health risks."
