Care Plus has launched Master International, allowing organisations to offer their employees healthcare around the world. Customers can access healthcare through Blue Cross Blue Shield Global in the USA and through Bupa Global outside the USA.
Master International is available to Care Plus clients currently subscribing to its Master I plan (around 35% of its customers), which provides premium healthcare coverage in Brazil. In addition, the plan is available to new customers with compatible plans and an additional 2,000 new customers are expected by 2018 year end.
The Brazilian website sets out the schedule of benefits in Portuguese and we have not attempted to translate it into English and list them here but a simple translation suggests coverage should meet the needs of many employers in Brazil. Most benefits are full refund, although there are annual financial and reasonable treatment limits on some benefits e.g. physiotherapy.
What They Say
CEO Roberto Laganá said: "Our clients and brokers have stated the need for a product offering coverage to globally minded and globally mobile customers. We’ve listened to them and, alongside Bupa Global and Blue Cross Blue Shield Global, our customers now have the security of having premium healthcare anytime, anywhere.”
What We Say
Brazil is a significant world economy and likely into be even more significant in future. Bupa bought into the market just over a year ago and this new plan represents a significant expansion, with customers being able to use the Bupa and Blue Cross Blue Shield networks globally.
Using an online translation service (we used this) the plan looks to offer a wide range of mainly full refund benefits, with some financial and other limits, as often applies to iPMI cover. However, Portuguese is not this reviewer’s first language, so if you are recommending the plan you need to ensure it covers what your client wants. However, both Care Plus and Bupa are significant players in their sectors, so coverage should meet most clients’ needs.
