Bupa has introduced a number of changes to its dental plans for businesses. One change overall is a ‘No forms, no fuss claiming’, direct settlement system for patients that have their treatment at participating practices in the Dental Insurance Network, which Bupa says is a marketwide first.
This removes the need for patients to pay immediately, leaving them temporarily out of pocket before they claim the costs back. Patients visiting a practice from outside of the network can settle the claim online. Scheme members can also get a 20% discount on general dental treatment costs at a participating dentist within the Bupa Dental Insurance Network.
With regard to the plans, Bupa Dental Plan is its most popular B2B option and offers the highest preventative cover in the market. Different levels of cover are available, some of which have the option to include Bupa’s new Preventative Care Promise. When used in participating centres within Bupa’s Dental Insurance Network, this removes the risk of unexpected bills by guaranteeing to cover preventative dental treatments such as routine examinations, hygienist appointments and x-rays.
The other plan, Bupa Dental Choice, offers a clear, itemised breakdown of the treatments and costs available, so employees can see exactly what they can claim for each time. A range of different levels of cover are available for each policy.
What They Say
Director of Bupa Dental Insurance, Steve Gates, said: "High-quality dental care is a very popular employee benefit as it’s something that gets regular use.
"We’ve refreshed our policies as we’ve significantly expanded our UK footprint, making Bupa the second largest provider of dental insurance across the country. As an insurer and a major dental provider, we’re in a unique position that can benefit both businesses and their employees."
What We Say"Dental insurance is a popular employee benefit, not least because customers can and will access benefits on a regular basis. Bupa offers two plans for employers, depending on what level of cover they want to provide. Even within that there are options. So most firms – from SMEs to large corporates – should be able to find the benefits and cost they want.
"Dental Plan now offers five cover levels, with benefits arranged in ‘pots’ and with good preventative treatment limits. The lower cost Dental Choice plan also offers five cover levels, while both plans now benefit from no form claims."
