ALC Health has added two new versions to its existing Prima international private medical insurance product.
Prima Concept is a new budget plan for those who want basic healthcare cover. A range of currencies is offered, with an annual maximum benefit in US Dollars of $375,000 (or £200,000 or 250,000 Euros). Inpatient cover is mainly full refund except home nursing which is limited to six weeks a year. Many outpatient treatments are also covered up to the annual limit of $2,250 (or equivalent). Other limits include on physiotherapy ($375), complementary treatments ($375) and traditional Chinese medicine ($375).
Innocent bystander cover, AIDS (HIV), emergency clean blood transfusion service and hazardous activities are covered.
Optional covers are:
* Routine pregnancy and childbirth (two options: up to $4,500 or $7,500)
* Routine dental treatment (up to $1,500)
* Evacuation or repatriation ($full refund)
The plan also offers a choice of excess options.
At the other end of the scale, Prima Platinum is aimed at corporate international executives and high net worth individuals who are looking for the highest levels of cover. It has an annual maxim benefit of $7.5 million. There a number of financial limits listed (e.g. up to $150,000 for newborn congenital cover; $30,000 for premature births; $15,000 for chronic conditions; $15,000 for outpatient psychiatric [and 30 days’ inpatient], and $1,125 for wellbeing checks among others). Most outpatient and inpatient treatment is, however, fully refunded.
ALC Health has also recently enhanced its online quotations service, improving both speed and flexibility, with complete quotes now available within 60 seconds.
What They Say
Director Andrew Apps said: “Whether there is a need for traditional expatriate cover, a ‘no frills’ package or an all-encompassing top end solution, ALC Health’s new extended range of Prima Healthcare plans really do fit the bill in more ways than one.”
What We Say
"ALC Health has effectively topped and tailed its existing Prima plan, offering both super budget and high end benefits.
"One advantage of having a wider range is that clients can choose which version best suits their needs. In particular, above inflation price rises have led to more people choosing budget cover, so having a new budget option should open up the market for this plan. Clients could then upgrade their benefits as budgets allow."
