Chris Woodburn, chief executive of the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC), has announced a series of seminars to launch the second phase of consultation.
The seminars will cover how the GISC will operate and will include details of: the scope of the GISC; its board’s current thinking on a new rulebook for the insurance industry; the financing of the GISC; the future structure of the board and its Scrutiny Committee.
The seminars will be held around the country during October and November. They will be held in; Glasgow at the Thistle Glasgow Hotel on October 25; Birmingham at the International Conference Centre on October 27; Manchester at the Renaissance Manchester Hotel on November 1; Bristol at the Crowne Plaza Bristol on November 3; and London at the Sedgwick Centre on November 10. All seminars will start at 2.30pm and admission is free.
The GISC launched its first consultation exercise in November last year and it will be operational from the beginning of 2000. It will oversee the self-regulation of brokers and intermediaries who currently either follow the ABI’s code of practice; are regulated by Lloyds or are registered under the lnsurance Brokers Registration Council (IBRC) code.
