PPP healthcare is to launch a private medical insurance (PMI) product with online individual underwriting.
The product, called Unique, is being piloted through intermediaries and direct distribution channels to test its saleability.
PPP healthcare distribution development manager Nye Jones explained that Unique is a variant on PPP healthcare’s core comparative, standard and budget individual PMI plans.
But the product’s online underwriting approach will be based on factors such as the individual’s medical history, age and address.
Jones said: “It’s too early to say when it will be launched but it will be within months rather than years.”
Separately, PPP healthcare managing director Mark Adams has quit after seven years with the group to take up a new role outside the healthcare sector.
The company expects to announce the new incumbent before the New Year.
