Income protection specialist, Permanent Insurance, has recently introduced paramedical screening for individual PHI policies.
The screenings have replaced time-consuming medical examinations with a health check undertaken by a nurse.
Policy holders will be able to make appointments at work or at home.
Professional rate classes one and two would only require a full medical in cases where claims would exceed £1,200 a week in benefit.
For the more labour-intensive rate classes three and four, which include farm labourers and chefs, anything above £650 a week in benefit would also require a full medical examination.
The move was designed to make PHI applications quicker and easier. Andrew Chapman, managing director of Permanent Insurance said: “We have already seen the benefits of paramedical screening with our group schemes. It is both convenient and efficient. We are now adding this new service to further streamline PHI sales for IFAs.”
