Norwich Union has launched a cash plan product which can be tailored to suit the needs of a range of clients.
The Norwich Union Healthcare Health Expenses Plan is designed to meet the needs of either young families or couples aged over 50.
Premiums cost £30 or £50 a month, with the cost structure based on the amount of cash which will be paid if a claim is made.
Under the cash plan, both target client groups receive cash help towards dental and optical services, consultations and tests, hospital day case and inpatient treatment, minor surgery carried out by a GP, physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic services. They will also receive a number of free prescriptions and have access to a GP helpline.
The policy has variations to allow it to meet the needs of both categories of client. For families there is a maternity benefit while for the over 50s the benefits of the plan include cash towards care in nursing homes.
Commercial director, Tim Baker said: “For the first time, a health expenses plan is available which meets the specific needs of groups of people.
“They are not paying for benefits they will not use, so they are getting much better value for money.”
