NHS Trusts have slashed overspending by £4.7m last year, according to the latest edition of Fitzhugh Directory of NHS Trusts.
Sponsored by Norwich Union Healthcare, the directory also shows that the income trusts received from GP fundholders increased by 57.8% over the same period. Additionally, private patients generated income reaching nearly £250m.
The directory is published by HCIS, publishers of comparitive financial data on healthcare provision. The directory contains more than 1,000 pages of summaries, statistics and rankings.
A spokesman for NU Healthcare said it sponsored the report because the company wished to have an ongoing involvement in healthcare research and publication. NU Healthcare is the UK’s third largest private medical insurer.
