Online learning is finally receiving heavyweight attention in the financial services community. The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) recently launched its online Learning Management System, which represents a significant step on the road to a modern, flexible and responsive education service.
Appropriate for all financial services organisations, the site provides online training on a wide range of subjects, addresses compliance and competence issues and gives companies complete control over the learning activities of their workforce. In particular, it means that intermediaries can save time and money by studying and revising online for CII professional qualifications, such as the Certificate of Insurance Practice. It should also make it easier for intermediaries to remain fully compliant with the increasingly onerous regulatory regime.
Companies are able to subscribe to the site and give their employees access to over 100 hours of online tutorials, revision aids and reference materials. The management controls enable companies to record how long the system is in use and how each individual is progressing against pre-determined benchmarks. In addition, the site also facilitates Continuing Professional Development (CPD) endeavours.
