As part of its campaign in support of independent advice, Prudential wants to motivate people to begin or review their financial plans and to seek help from IFAs.
The company has launched a site at www.pru.co.uk/plan allowing the general public to log on and give their financial health a probably much-needed check up.
The site categorises people according to their different life stages such as where they are with savings, protection, retirement and mortgages and divides the different stages in life as starting out, settling down, having children, growing family, mid-life, retiring soon and retirement.
Other stages include self-employment and coping with change, so there is a category for everyone to fit into.
If an individual’s thoughts were with protection they would click on that section where there are planning tools with calculators. It will calculate the best deal for their circumstances through questions such as: “How much do you want to put towards repaying major loans like a mortgage or to adjust your lifestyle?” And if the user already has cover they can review it.
The protection plan from the Pru includes critical illness (CI) which is guaranteed for a minimum of five years, mortgage payment protection insurance and life cover, under the name of family protection which would cover an individual’s family should the policyholder die.
