Ex-Johnson Fry Healthsave international medical specialist Peter Rousseau and client administrator Nicole Grace have joined Interglobal, a new joint venture from Inter Group Insurance Services and New Zealand-based Mike Henry Group.
Interglobal was set up in April to enable the two parent companies to pool their strengths in the travel medical market and extend into medical expenses cover.
Its first product is the Interglobal Ultracare Healthcare Plan, aimed chiefly at international executives and expatriots, which has been developed by Rousseau and is backed by the parent companies’ resources and support networks.
Inter Group managing director Andrew Blowers, who has taken on the same role at Interglobal, told Health Insurance
: “We have long had an affinity with the Mike Henry Group, looking after some of its specialist schemes in the UK along with some claims work, but the decision to go ahead was made when the expertise of Peter Rousseau became available.”
The Ultracare plan is the first of an envisaged series of policies with an income protection plan already in the pipeline. Underwriting and insurance is by a panel of international insurers led by LDG Worldwide on behalf of GAN Insurance, Reliance National Insurance and CAN Reinsurance.
The policy includes an international medical helpline offering pre-authorisation and direct settlement of in-patient and daycare claims, plus medical advice and the details of suitable hospitals, clinics and doctors.
Rousseau said the policy was unique in offering legal expenses and personal legal liability cover. Other selling points include pre-authorised in-patient and day care as well as an absence of claim forms.
Johnson Fry executive chairman David Megginson said that Rousseau had been working as a consultant with the company until last April, reviewing the UK PMI market and putting together the recently launched Healthsave International Medical Expenses Plans.
