Help the Aged Insurance Services has launched a new healthcare cash plan with no upper age limit for applicants.
The plan, arranged by registered insurance broker Marsh UK and underwritten by Pinnacle Insurance, has been launched as a more economical alternative for older people who find the cost of private medical insurance (PMI) prohibitive.
It is tailored to meet older people’s healthcare needs, excluding those benefits, such as maternity care or parental hospital cover, which are not relevant.
Applicants are not required to take a medical or complete a medical questionnaire.
Help the Aged benefits financially from each insurance policy sold.
As well as insuring against the expected, the plan can contribute towards unexpected healthcare costs such as a stay in hospital, a specialist consultation, longer-term care such as home help or respite care and can also help pay for complementary medicine including physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic treatment, acupuncture and homeopathy.
Help the Aged Insurance Services senior manager Sue Nelson says: “Although insurance should not be seen as preferable to an all-encompassing NHS, our healthcare cash plan is about giving older people on fixed incomes the security and peace of mind that help is at hand to meet everyday primary healthcare costs, as well as larger scale health problems.”
