The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII) is to establish a panel of intermediaries to take compliance issues to the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC). The move came after former chairman Roland Burnett, principal at York-based Prestige Healthcare, resigned following a difference of opinion on how the AMII should deal with GISC compliance issues.
The election for the new chairman will take place in March 2002.
Acting chairman Larry Bulmer, a partner with Kent-based Health Decisions, said: “It’s business as usual. Despite the differences of opinion, I’m duty-bound to ensure the membership receives the appropriate assistance they require in dealing with the issues. It’s more beneficial if a panel of intermediaries talks to the GISC rather than individual intermediaries.”
Burnett said: “I support AMII and will still express my views on a whole range of issues when I attend meetings.”
