Informa, the parent company of Health Insurance & Protection, was formed in 1998 by the merger of IBC Group plc and LLP plc, just two months after Health Insurance Magazine was launched by LLP plc.
However, the company’s publishing pedigree goes back almost 300 years with our sister title Lloyd’s List being one of the world’s oldest continuously running journals, providing shipping news since 1734.
Since 1998, Informa has grown to become a truly multinational business intelligence, academic publishing, knowledge and events company. Listed on the London Stock Exchange we are now a FTSE100 company with over 11,000 employees and offices in 43 countries.
Health Insurance Magazine was launched in 2003 and published until June 2013 when, after 170 print issues, we became a digital publication – the first Informa magazine title to do so – and we were renamed Health Insurance & Protection Daily.
In 2018, the Health Insurance Awards – the industry’s annual centrepiece – won not only the Best Long-standing Awards Event (15–25 Years) but the Best Overall Awards Event at the Award Awards, which is seen as the “Oscars” of the UK business to business awards industry.
In January 2019, we moved to Informa Connect, a dynamic events and digital publishing division of Informa, and in May 2019 the title was relaunched with a new website as Health Insurance & Protection – the first phase of an exciting three-year business plan.
Our philosophy is simple: to provide objective news, analysis, opinion and insight for professional intermediaries (IFAs, insurance brokers, employee benefit consultants, mortgage consultants etc) who write health insurance, protection and related business for individuals / families, through SMEs and up to the largest companies on the planet.
We strive to help readers to identify new opportunities that improve their business efficiency, and which ultimately adds to their bottom line.
It is this editorial focus which since 2003 has seen our journalists and contributors win or been shortlisted for over 50 national financial journalism awards including the ABI Financial Media Awards, Medical Journalism Awards, BIBA Awards, Headlinemoney Awards and the Protection Review Awards – more than any other publication serving the sector.
